January 2004 |
Right well since the last
update we’ve been in the studio and recorded, mixed and mastered the EP hence
the lack of an update. We also didn’t manage to do any gigs before the end of
the year as hoped but it has been worth putting them off to get the CD right.
As promised it is both Heavy and Metal and is going to keep the working title
of “Kill Everything… Then Kill It Again”. It should be on sale towards the
end of Feb
The final track listing is as
follows (in no particular order, but probably in this one):
-
A Scar to
Mark the Day.
-
Cut to
Reality
-
Within
-
For the
Suffering
-
Body and
Blood
-
Welcome
to My World
We will be doing a lot more
gigs in 2004 than we did in 2003 (that shouldn’t be hard – we only did 2 in
2003). We will also be writing some more songs (there are several in the
pipeline) as well as putting some new and different covers in the set.
We’ll also
be keeping you informed on what’s happening.

Just
a quick update: Firstly to say thanks to everyone who came to the Bowl to see
us in August. We had a great night despite PA problems throughout the day,
which meant that things didn’t go as smoothly as they should have.
CD
is progressing slowly. Not in the studio yet (still writing) but we now have
dates pencilled in at Danny Joyce’s studio for early November. At the moment
we are still looking at someone we know in England to do the final mix for us.
We may not bother with that if the initial mix we get straight from the studio
is good enough. The CD will have 6 tracks. Four are definite at the moment:
‘A Scar to Mark the Day,’ ‘Within,’ ‘For the Suffering’ and
‘Welcome to My World’. We may also include ‘A Simple Plan,’ but we are
putting the finishing touches to 2 more songs at the moment, which may end up
better. These are called ‘Cut to Reality’, and ‘Body and Blood.’
Looking
forward to getting them finished so we can get on and do some more gigs before
the end of the year (hopefully at the Lion and Blindo’s).

Right well the gig will soon be here and you can
expect a night of diverse Heavy Metal. We now have confirmation that
Jamal Brown (an 8 piece metal outfit from Jersey) and Mechanical
Lobster (with their own brand of Industrial Goth Metal) plus a DJ
will be supporting us. Other details of the gig are:

Sat 16th August 7.30pm at The Bowl all ages welcome ID on the bar.
It will be £4 on the door. |

Just a quick
news entry to keep you all up to date on how things are progressing here in
Thousand Points of Hateland.
We’ve got
another gig for you lot. Yes its finally happened it was a close call as
to whether the website update or the gig would happen first but the gig just
scraped in. We are working together with the Discharge crowd for this
one, so the provisional details are:
Discharge
Fanzine presents Soundstage 4 “Monsters on the Rock”.
Sat 16th
August 7.30pm at The Bowl all ages welcome.
It will be £4
approx. There may be tickets in advance.
Bands:
Mechanical Lobster (TBC), Jamal Brown (Jsy) (TBC), Thousand Points of Hate Plus DJ
So we’ll
see you there.
We haven’t
gigged since March cos we’ve been writing songs with a view to getting a CD
out in the next month or two. We’re all getting a bit restless and wanting
to play again but we didn’t want to just throw the gear on stage and make a
load of noise without proper organisation. It would suck and you lot
wouldn’t want to watch us anymore.
Eight songs
completed so far (with brief descriptions so you know what we’re up to) are:
To Mark the
Day – heavy, shouty, thrashy thing
Within –
big plodder with a twist of old skool type metal
Waste –
slow and heavy followed by faster and heavy
A Simple Plan
– oooh, a bit of rapping.
(Welcome to) My World – the most poppy one so far but still heavy
with lots of riffs.
For the
Suffering – as the title suggests, a happy little toe tapper.
Stare down
the Demon - think Down, Corrosion of Conformity etc. I guess
Worlds to
Come – another heavy, dirty bluesy type thing
Things are
still being tweaked here and there: Simon and Paul are working out vocal
parts, Gordie’s writing a couple of guitar solos, Nick’s working out where
he can squeeze extra double bass drum beats in and we’re all trying to play
louder, tighter and more offensively.
We’re going
to pick six of the tunes and record them. Don’t know where yet. It’s
proving difficult to find a decent studio that can accommodate our particular
style of metal. We’ve had an offer from a mate who’s in a fairly big name
UK band to mix it, so it should hopefully sound something like we intend it to
and will be worth buying. We won’t release it if it doesn’t sound as good
as any album you’d buy in your local record shop.
Anyway,
don’t lose interest and forget about us. Like we said we are aiming to have
the CD done and dusted in the next month or two and a better set than before.
Keep checking back to the website to keep up to date.
Kill
everything…then kill it again.

9 April 2003 |
OK First
things first. We apologise for our utter laziness in recent months: The
website has been sadly neglected but that will change from now on - we
promise! Yeah right.
Anyway.
latest news from the world of Hate: Since the last update you are probably
aware that we did the Bowl gig with Thee Jenerators and a good night was had
by all.
Then
another surprise: The Tavern must have had a memory lapse cos they let us play
there again for the Vale Earth Fair. That gig was on March 22nd 2003. Check
out the Press page for the review of that one (link on the sidebar of this
page). Yet again thanks for your support - it was another successful night of
utter racket. It was billed as an anti-war thing which was obviously not our
idea. We like bombs and other things that explode (as long as they don't
explode too near us). Mmmmm....flames.
Since that
gig we've been getting back into writing. There are six songs finished now,
three of which we've played in the live set ('Waste', 'Within' and 'A Simple
Plan'). One of the tunes written since the Tavern gig is 'For the suffering',
and two others as yet untitled. We'll be picking the best 4 tracks and putting
a CD together some time this summer. The CD has a working title of 'Kill
Everything....Then Kill it Again' and should be about as subtle as a pube in
your rice pudding. We've got a few options for studios/engineers etc. so we'll
keep you posted on that.
Next job on
the list is to sort out the next gig. Anyone with any suggestions of
venues/support bands etc. drop us a line via the email link on the 'BAND'
page. Right, that's all for now. HEAVY FUCKIN METAL or DIE!!!! |

Okay, we
got it confirmed! The Jenerators are taking time outta their busy
schedule to get even busier and have agreed to play as loud as they can for
us. We're all getting keyed up for what should be another stonking
evening and hope to see you all there. |

We've been
banned from playing at the Tavern 'cos we were too loud!! However,
undaunted, we decided to promote our own gig and metal will continue to be
applied on the Island's young and impressionable audience at extreme volume.
In keeping
with our dedication to bring you the best metal at affordable prices (!!!)
we're shelling out our hard earned greenbacks to launch a rock / metal club
night at The Bowl on 9th November. The racket will kick off at around
8:oopm. All ages are welcome. There will be two bars so you'll
need some ID if you're planning on getting hoovered!
Manfromankle
will instigate an audio barrage of rock / metal / alternative music action to
get you warmed up. First band taking the reins will be suitably heavy,
but we don't know who it is yet! We'll let you know when we've finished
bullying someone into it.
Advance
tickets will be on sale shortly (£3 each) from No. 19 and Teleskill Discs,
but they'll also be available on the door. Beware though, in some mad
hair-brained scheme to try and make a profit, the tickets on the door will be
a massive 50p more expensive. This is to help fund the alcohol
consumption that will be had after the gig.
We're sure
this is gonna be a fuckin' good night, and if it goes down well (and doesn't
cost us too much) we'll try and make this a much more regular event.
Take our advice - get there early to maximise your metal and alcohol intake.
Following
the gig at the Fermain Tavern on 10th August 2002
Thanks to
everyone who came to the Tavern on Saturday and supported our first gig. We've
read some comments on Facelift's and Tardis Studio's website (see links page for
details) and we're glad you seemed to buzz off it as much as we did. Facelift
were great and we've been talking to them about doing something similar in the
near future, maybe at the Bowl or another venue. Gav at the Tav will only let us
play there on the Vale Earth Fair nights for some reason which means much too
long a wait for our liking. So we'll probably have to go somewhere else unless
one of you guys knows him well enough to bug him into submission.
Just to whet
your Metal appetites - wherever we play next it's going to be with a PA that
isn't broke (hopefully with Barney driving it again cos he likes it loud) so the
sound will be that much clearer and heavier. Anyway, thanks again, please email
us using the newly added buttons and suggest venues or whatever else you want.
Can't wait to do it again only more so.
In case you
didn't make it, this is what some people have said:
____________
"I loved
the gig, 1000 Points Of Hate were brilliant. Not all the music was my thing -
bit too loud for my little ears - but I could appreciate how well played it was,
and every now and then I uncovered my ears and got a blast of darn good guitar
solo (well accompanied by the air guitar from the lead singer!) Would like to
hear you again to broaden my musical horizons."
____________
"At long,
long, last . . . A totally professional band in Guernsey, I haven't been into
metal for about 13 years now, but I think 'Thousand Points of Hate' have changed
all that for me now."
____________
"How
refreshing, to see ultra-tight musicians play an absolutely blinding set... I
think this'll make ALL bands of ALL genres in Guernsey realise how much more
they're gonna have to try to attain this level of professionalism!"
____________
"1000pointsofhate.
where do i begin, fantastic sound, nice guitar solos, awesome drumming, really
heavy bass and great vocals, that just about covers it, a fab set. i couldnt
mosh, i was too taken actually listening to the music, best set i have heard for
a long time. sooo heavy"
____________
"good to see
some proper heavy metal back at the for front of Guernsey, there have been too
many pop punk bands recently"
____________
". . on the
subject of the DH. if 1000points were to ever play there, then i think the place
would fall down, or if not the pit would certainly destroy the place. and
anyway, u could not fit all the kit inside the place."
____________
"1000 points,
my god, fuckin great, sooo heavy, very metal!!!!." |
